Your Cat's Comfort is Our Passion
With over 20 years of experience in the pet care industry and a lifelong love for animals, we’ve had the privilege of caring for pets and getting to know the people who love them. Having previously owned and operated a successful pet boarding facility, we developed a deep understanding of the unique needs of our feline guests needs which we’ve carefully considered in creating our purpose-built cattery.
Our aim has always been to provide a home away from home: a calm, secure and comforting environment where cats can truly relax. Every aspect of the facility has been thoughtfully designed with hygiene, safety and wellbeing in mind.
We live on-site and remain closely involved in the daily running of the cattery, working alongside a dedicated team of passionate and caring staff. Together, we ensure every guest receives the same gentle, respectful care we would want for our own cats.
As lifelong cat lovers, we understand just how special your feline companions are. You can feel confident knowing they’re in safe, caring hands.

Our Founders
Hi, I’m Darryl
My passion for animals began early, growing up in my parents’ racing stables at Deagon, where I gained hands-on experience in animal care and behaviour. Later, Vicki and I combined our shared love of animals by running a pet boarding facility in Gatton, which deepened our focus on feline care and the need for a cat specific facility.
In 2018, we began planning Whispurrs Cat Retreat, and with my building background, Vicki and I were able to design and construct the facility alongside my sons and nephew.
Today, Whispurrs stands as the realisation of that vision, a purpose-built retreat where cats receive dedicated, professional care and owners can feel complete confidence in leaving their pets with us.
Hi, I’m Vicki
Animals have always been a part of my life, and I have been actively involved in the pet industry since 1983. Cats have had a special way of capturing my heart.
After many years running a boarding kennel and cattery, my husband Darryl and I decided to focus solely on cats, creating an environment without dogs, where they feel safe, calm, and cared for.
Whispurrs Cat Retreat was designed and built by Darryl and me, and since opening in August 2020. It has become a trusted home-away-from-home where cats enjoy comfort, security and dedicated attention. The dream has become a reality.

Hello, I’m Georgia: Feline Concierge
I’ve been part of Whispurrs for nearly four years, ensuring every detail runs seamlessly and caring for the needs of both our feline guests and their devoted owners. With over 20 years of experience in natural resource management and animal husbandry, I bring a deep respect for animals and an understanding of their unique personalities.
Every cat who stays with us has their own story, quirks, and comforts, and it’s a joy to discover what makes them feel most at home. Building trust, forming bonds, and creating a peaceful, nurturing space is at the heart of what I do so each guest leaves with a sense of belonging and returns to us as an old friend.

Hi, I’m Edith: Feline Guest Services
I’ve grown up with cats for as long as I can remember, and after more than four years volunteering in cat rescue, I’ve developed a soft spot for the timid, nervous kitties — the ones who need a little extra time and patience to feel safe. Watching these shy souls blossom into affectionate cuddlebugs is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
My calm, gentle nature helps cats settle in comfortably at our cattery. I also bring a solid background in feline health and nutrition from my time at a pet supply store, and I’m excited to keep expanding my skills by studying animal behaviour.

I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology at UQ and have been working at Whispurrs since October 2024. I’ve been a cat person for as long as I can remember, and I absolutely love being part of a team that cares so deeply for every feline guest. I have two cats of my own—Daisy and Ralph—and I can’t wait to meet yours!

Your cat’s wellbeing is my priority, and I’m here to make sure they feel safe, loved, and at home.

At Whispurrs Cat Retreat, we are deeply committed to safeguarding your feline friend’s overall wellbeing. It is our highest priority to ensure your cat’s safety, happiness and health when you return.
Hygiene
To safeguard your cat from infectious disease and bacteria, we have solid walls between all our rooms. Cats can sneeze disease up to 1.3m, therefore our walkways are designed 1.5m apart. All rooms are treated with high-grade veterinary strength disinfectant.

We are always hands-on in the day-to-day running of the facility.

Vets On-Call
Our local vets are available 24 hours.

We are just 5 minutes off the Bruce Highway and Steve Irwin Way.

To cater to all budgets, we offer a range of options from Alfresco and Boutique rooms to The Presidential Suite.
Quality Balanced Diet
We use Royal Canin dry and wet foods as our basic dietary requirements unless instructed otherwise by owners.
